Jubilee Indulgence for the 800th Anniversary of the Death of St Francis of Assisi
On the occasion of this jubilee, Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed an Extraordinary Holy Year for 2026. It runs from 10 January 2026 to 10 January 2027. During this time, the faithful have the opportunity to gain a plenary indulgence every day. It can be obtained in any church dedicated to St Francis, and therefore also in our convent church, St Mary Loreto, where we, the Capuchin Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, honor St Francis as the father of our order.
In giving I receive, in forgetting myself I find myself, in dying I rise to eternal life. St Francis of Assisi
How can we gain this jubilee indulgence?
- Confession with a firm resolve to turn away from every sin (one confession suffices to gain several plenary indulgences)
- Receiving Holy Communion
- Prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father: an Our Father, a Hail Mary, or another prayer
- A visit to a Franciscan church
